Sixty percent of the public is dissatisfied with the government’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions in transportation

Regarding the 2040 comprehensive electrification policy launched by the Ministry of Communications, only 5% think it is very sufficient, 18% think it is slightly enough, and nearly 60% of netizens think that the government’s promotion is insufficient.
Asking netizens who have plans to purchase electric vehicles and motorcycles, 50% of the people are satisfied with the subsidies offered by the government for electric vehicles and motorcycles, and about 35% of the people think that the subsidies need to be increased in order to affect their willingness to purchase electric vehicles and motorcycles. Since half of the people are satisfied with government subsidies, why do 60% of the people still think that the government’s promotion is insufficient? When buying an electric car, the charging problem is the most worrying
According to the latest survey, Taiwanese people are most concerned about the convenience of charging electric vehicles. Ask the respondents, what factors will attract them to purchase electric vehicles? 80.3% of the people believe that “charging at home and at charging stations” will definitely greatly increase their willingness to own electric vehicles. Secondly, if “the cost of follow-up regular maintenance is low” and “electric vehicles are exempted from automobile and motorcycle fuel tax” When spending decreases, it will also attract them to buy electric vehicles. Looking further at the age group, in addition to hoping to improve the convenience of charging and reduce expenditures, the 31-40-year-old group who are new parents are also attracted by the low-noise characteristics of electric vehicles; the young generation aged 16-30 said that I will care about the performance of starting acceleration.
In Taiwan, there are 62 locomotives for every 100 people on average. The promotion of electric locomotives is definitely an important key to the transformation of transportation. When asked what incentives the respondents have to attract them to buy electric vehicles, the convenience of charging also ranks first. More than 80% of the people most hope that they can “charge at home and at charging stations”, followed by “electric vehicles are cheap.” , “Low regular maintenance cost”.
Awareness of environmental protection is on the rise, and people buy electric vehicles for carbon reduction and low noise
Among the respondents this time, 56% of Internet users currently own cars, of which 11% are owners of gasoline-electric hybrid cars, slightly higher than 4% of electric car owners; 77% of the respondents currently have cars, of which 8% The locomotives are electric vehicles, and 7% are gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles.
The interviewed car owners and potential car buyers said that when buying a car, they will first consider safety, fuel consumption/power consumption, and sales price, but they are willing to choose electric cars because of environmental protection, low noise, and charging costs are more cost-effective than fuel costs. On the other hand, the reasons for not choosing electric vehicles include the inconvenience of charging, worrying about running out of electricity on the road, the high price of electric vehicles, and high maintenance costs.
Motorcycle owners and potential car buyers will consider the sales price, appearance, and brand when purchasing a motorcycle. The first and second reasons for choosing electric motorcycles are still for carbon reduction and low noise, and the third is the exemption of fuel tax for automobiles and motorcycles. The top four reasons for not choosing electric motorcycles are the same as the reasons for not choosing electric cars.
When buying automobiles and motorcycles, gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles and pure fuel motorcycles are still the first choice
Due to the above reasons, only 20% of the respondents who plan to buy a car in the next three years will consider electric vehicles, but 40% will buy gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles, and 36% plan to buy pure fuel vehicles; Among those who plan to buy motorcycles within three years, 28.6% expect to buy pure electric motorcycles, 21% to buy gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles, but the proportion who want to buy pure fuel motorcycles is as high as 50%.
In order to achieve the goal of 100% market sales of electric passenger cars and locomotives by 2040, in addition to accelerating the deployment of electric vehicles by car manufacturers, the government’s charging capacity support and various preferential programs are also very important. From the feedback from the interviewees, it can be seen that although the public agrees with the carbon reduction action, and the safety of electric vehicles and the appearance design of electric vehicles have been recognized by the public, the charging problem and the excessively luxurious price still make the public dissatisfied. The main electric vehicle locomotive is daunting. How to allow car owners to gradually move towards electrification when they change their cars next time, and even promote renting instead of buying, are the directions that the government and enterprises can start in the next 17 years.
