According to reports, this satellite production base is expected to be completed in the middle of next year, and belongs to Hong Kong Aerospace Science and Technology Group, which is determined to build the “China Starlink” project.

Hong Kong’s “Wen Wei Po” quoted Hu Mingyuan, the technical director of the Hong Kong Satellite Intelligent Manufacturing Center, as saying in a report today, “The main purpose of the center is to build a full industrial chain manufacturing satellites in Hong Kong. We will cover communication satellites, navigation enhancement satellites, remote sensing satellites, etc. Different types satellites can be produced on our production line.”

He said that after the completion of the center, it is estimated that 200 satellites weighing less than 1,000 kilograms can be produced each year. “On the one hand, we will manufacture satellites for commercial users, and we also have our own Starlink project, including “Aurora Constellation” and “Golden Bauhinia Constellation.” , can provide corresponding satellite services for residents in the Greater Bay Area and around the world.”

It is pointed out that the Eighth Research Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (referred to as the Eighth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology) is responsible for establishing production lines for the relevant centers.

Hu Mingyuan said that the center has hired many local university students to provide scientific research positions for Hong Kong, and it is expected to attract more young people to join this industry in the future.

The satellite manufacturing center in Hong Kong is located in Tseung Kwan O, Kowloon, and the satellites produced in the future will be completely “Made in Hong Kong”.
